Offered for your consideration is this Antique 1800's Flame Mahogany Mortuary Entrance Donation Chest with Locking Key. This Chest features handcrafted front and back drawer dovetailing, step back top drawer section with 2 slots to drop money donations into, original wood knobs, empire graceful curved front and feet, and an inconspicuous drawer without knobs (never made to have any) to serve as the donation overflow when the small drawers needed to be emptied. It also has recessed / picture frame sides. The original deep rich exterior color and vibrant cherry interior is a sweet contrast. It measures 57-1/2" high x 42" wide x 23-3/4" deep. Height to the first top surface is 45". There are some character blemishes (some flaking) mainly on the supports under each of the large drawers and a bruise / blemish on the right of the bowed hidden drawer. A wood stain touched to the flaking should remedy this if it is distracting. This is a very heavy, well made piece that has held thousands of cards filled with love, compassion and sympathy over the years.
